Whois Privacy Protection, sometimes also called Privacy or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that conceals the real contact information of domain registrants on WHOIS check sites. Without protection, the personal name, address and email of any domain name registrant will be freely accessible. Giving fake info during the registration procedure or altering the authentic details later will simply not work, as doing such a thing may result in the registrant losing his/her domain ownership rights. The policies approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), demand that the WHOIS info must be correct and up to date at all times. The Whois Privacy Protection service was introduced by domain name registrars as a response to the rising concerns for potential identity fraud. If the service is enabled, the domain registrar’s contact information will show up instead of the registrant’s upon a WHOIS check. Most domains support the Whois Privacy Protection service, even though there are certain country-code ones that do not.

Whois Privacy Protection in Shared Hosting

If you get a shared hosting plan from our company, you will be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of your domains as long as their extensions support this option. You can register/transfer a domain and enable Whois Privacy Protection during the account activation procedure or you can activate the service for any of your domain names at any time afterwards via the Hepsia Control Panel. The process is exceptionally easy – after you sign in, you’ll need to go to the Registered Domains section where you will notice a list of all the domain names that you have registered with our company. For each one of them you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” logo, which will show you if the service is activated or not. By clicking on it, you can either Whois Privacy Protect the domain, or you can disable the service if it is currently active.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

In case you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain name under it, you can enable our Whois Privacy Protection service easily. This takes just a couple of clicks in the Hepsia hosting Control Panel’s Registered Domains section, through which you administer everything related to your account. This is the place where you can see all your registered domains and for each of them you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” logo, using which you can enable, renew or deactivate the service. Of course, this will be possible only with generic and country-code top-level domain name extensions that are Whois Privacy Protection-eligible and you will be able to see this beforehand, so that you will not end up paying for a service that we cannot provide.
