Occasionally you may have to block certain third parties from accessing your sites. There are plenty of automatic bots that crawl the Internet, for example, and generate fake visits and site traffic. There are spammers that leave links to suspicious Internet sites as comments to website articles. This type of things can considerably undermine your work, since nobody likes to visit a website with many fake comments, also the increased website traffic from both spammers and bots could create high load on the server where your website is hosted, which can result in your site not working properly. Among the most effective solutions in this case is to block the IPs which generate the fake traffic, in order to be sure that the visits to your website are authentic.

IP Blocking in Shared Hosting

If you have a shared hosting account with us and you want to block one or a number of IP addresses, you can use the IP Blocking tool, which is incorporated into our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. By using a rather simple interface, you'll be able to stop any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it requires to complete that is to log within to your Control Panel, to go to the IP Blocking section, to choose a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to type in the IP address. You will not need to do anything difficult if you want to block a whole network - you'll simply have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the whole range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed inside the exact same section, so you'll be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with a click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, will enable you to solve the matter with unwanted traffic very easily and quickly. It incorporates an IP blocking tool where you may add IP addresses with several clicks. All domains and subdomains that you have within the account shall be listed in a drop-down menu, so you just need to choose the one you need and then type in the IP address which should be blocked. If you want to block an entire range, a C-class network for instance, you just need to input the first 3 octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That will block all 254 addresses, so you will not need to type them manually. Because all the IPs which you include in this section will be listed, you may quickly unblock any one of them by clicking the Delete button related to the given IP.
